Yennai arindhaal Review & Rating
It's Ajith Movie out and out!

Rating : 4/5
Director: Gautham Menon
Producer: A. M. Rathnam
Music Director: Harris Jayaraj
Written by: Gautham Menon
Cinematography: Dan Macarthur
Cast: Ajith Kumar (Sathyadev), Anushka Shetty (Thenmozhi), Trisha Krishnan (Hemanika), Arun Vijay (Victor), Parvathy Nair, Vivek (Revolver Richard)
Story:
The story revolves around a thirteen-year old boy named Sathya Dev and shows for twentyfive years how this lad struggles and grows up to fulfill his mother’s wishes. Finally he becomes a police officer, a tough no-nonsense and honest cop. But to melt the toughness in this officer we have Trisha who plays Hemanika, a dancer and Anushka who plays Thenmozhi. Of course there are bad guys too in this movie Revolver Richard (played by Vivek) and others. This is a typical Gautham Menon movie stuffed with every spice, cops, bad guys, some hot romance with two bewitching beauties Anushka and Trisha, all neatly stuffed in sentiments and mass masala. Of course in every scene, Gautham Menon leaves his mark as an ace director. There is nothing new in the story; except it is Ajith’s brilliant performance in various distinct roles.
Performances:
Thala Ajith’s performance in Yennai Arindhaal is amazing. He literally enters into the skin of the character delivering awesome performance. That’s Ajith for us. Added to it, Gautam Menon has perfectly exploited Thala Ajith’s extra-ordinary talents in Yennai Arindhaal. Ajith as cop and Ajith as dad literally lived in two different roles. The romance between Ajith and Trisha literally set the screen on fire with their soft heart touching scenes. As for Trisha, she really rocked in Unnakena song. Anushka as a student was in her usual best.
Plus Points:
Yennai Arindhaal is a Gautham Menon-Ajith special. His brilliant directorial talents and the way he showcased Ajith in different distinct roles and how he presented the two heroines in a gracious dignified manner is really appreciating. The twist in the movie comes just before the interval making the audiences wonder what would happen in the second half. The movie picks up the tempo from the second half and makes you sit on razor’s edge. Harris Jayaraj’s background score literally lifted the movie in every scene. The songs too are rocking, especially Unnakena and Mazhai Vara numbers. Camera work by Dan Macarthur is a visual treat… very cool and pleasant.
Minus Points:
Looks like screenplay was not given much importance. Which is why the first half looked dragging until a few moments before the interval.
Analysis:
Yennai Arindhaal is Ajith and Ajith is Yennai Arindhaal. This simple fact makes the movie a super duper hit for sure.
Verdict:
The movie is worth watching for various reasons. One is Ajith’s magnificent performance, secondly Gautham Menon’s way of handling of the movie, thirdly Trisha and Anushka’s stellar hot performances.
